The History of Slicer Dicer The original version of Slicer Dicer was developed by Dr. David Lucas at Visualogic, Inc. (a subsidiary of Northwest Research Associates, Inc.) in the late 1980s. The work was sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Apple Computer, Inc. The first commercial version was available only on the Macintosh and was marketed for Visualogic by Spyglass®, Inc., under the name Dicer®. In 1997 this application was enhanced and ported to Windows (now 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista/Win7) and was marketed by Visualogic as Slicer Dicer®. PIXOTEC, LLC In January of 2000, PIXOTEC, LLC purchased Slicer Dicer from Visualogic. PIXOTEC is owned by a two-person team consisting of: Dr. David Lucas, the originator of Slicer Dicer, and D.C. Skip Echert (M.S., MBA), the former Internet Operations Manager for Visualogic and Slicer Dicer. This experienced management team is further developing Slicer Dicer to continue to meet the evolving needs of its loyal users. Additionally, the team is expanding the software's technical capabilities to fulfill the requirements of other user groups.
